The Football Foundation in conjunction with the Football Association have produced new guidelines and technical parameters for goalposts.
A New British Goalpost Standard BS 8462 is being introduced to ensure that all goal posts used in official matches and training will be sports equipment to meet the stringent new safety guidelines. Toy Mini Soccer goals such as Samba, Polygoals, Umbro goals and far east imports that have rusty sections or missing parts will not meet these new standards and they can now be replaced with proper sports equipment.
Toy goals manufactured to BSEN 741 and BSEN 5665 and goal posts with welded net hook fixings will no longer be accepted for official matches and should be changed to goals that comply to the new standard.
Equipment manufactured to the old PAS British Standards 36-1 2000 and 36-2 2000 will no longer be allowed for official matches and training.
Grants may be offered to certain affiliated football clubs, schools, local authorities and other relevant community organizations to replace non conforming, old and toy goals.
